El guardián de Xunqueiroá

(Work in progress)

El Guardián de Xunqueiroá is a love story between a man and the territory he inhabits. The images document the link between the inhabitant and his land: the village, the forest and the animals. The man-territory duality unfolds in the photographs, sometimes making it difficult to distinguish where the individual ends and his environment begins.

Despite having lived and worked in the city, Moncho likes to be in the countryside. When his parents got older and became ill, he decided to go back to the village to take care of them, and he has been there ever since.
He lives in communion with the environment. he takes care of the forest, the fountain and sweeps the promenade every day. He feeds his horses, his dog Rex and the cat.
The guardian is an old man, without a wife or children. Sometimes he wonders what will happen to the village and the forest when he is not there. I wonder too.
